During a multi-station parallel learning program, families will think about the elements of Shabbat in a spiritual way and explore the feelings that celebrating Shabbat can evoke. The basic elements will be present for those who are learning, the more “feeling” aspect of things will enrich the celebration of those experienced in Shabbat celebration. (2 hours, families of children grades K-2)

Pat Lukens is the Education Director at Kerem Shalom in Concord. Previously, she was the Family Educator at Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland, MA for 6 years. She is a graduate of the first class of Family Educators for the Boston Family Education Sh’arim Initiative at Hebrew College. Whenever families invest time in a program, Pat strives to give them new thoughts and learning, plus something new to discuss at the dinner table. |
Marthajoy Aft is a student and teacher of Jewish mysticism, through “Practical Spirituality.” A graduate of the Hornstein program at Brandeis, Marthajoy has been a consultant for the Boston BJE, facilitator for “Catholics and Jews Together,” and has been a director of education at several congregational religious education programs. |
